1) If you are a man and believe that International Women's Day can and must exist, you are an example that International Men's Day must exist
First of all, who the woman's day exists against? If there is a women's struggle, who is it against? If you have an answer like "machismo" or "discrimination", you didn't understand anything.
We can see people who denounce imposed beauty standards. Some of them, even worse, denounce that if a woman is kind, delicate and helpful, this is a macho imposition. We have two problems here, I will start with the smallest: how can a movement that faces the standards of society, of patients of standards imposed by oppression, survive for so long and be increasingly successful? The second problem, which is actually the first: what is the problem (not only for women) in pleasing men in particular, or even in being pleasant?
More precisely, what happens to a woman who does not fit into the standards imposed on women? If a vision of life, or an appearance or a behavior is imposed on a group, the "getting out of line" may have a punishment or a warning coming from those who impose it, or at the very least be embarrassing in the middle of the group that accepts the imposition. But they said tenderness is a patriarchal imposition on women. What happens to rude women? They say that the beauty of face and body is a macho imposition on women. What happens to women with ugly faces and bodies? A more specific example: why can anyone of the largest mass media outlets in the country have some ugly and little friendly woman speaking out against "macho standards"?
In this last question, we can say that it is a more particular case of Feminism since the Second Wave. Then I ask one more question: what led the country to this? History does not make leaps. In the left-wing, any high school student in the student militancy knows this. Then I redo the question: what COULD the feminist woman's grandmother (in any wave) have or do to make it POSSIBLE for this woman to be a feminist? If at this point, you man already thought of mentioning the violence of some men against some women, you demonstrate the opposite of what you intend to prove. For example, a woman whose husband or father forbids her to achieve formal education is unlikely to become a feminist university professor who says that (heterosexual) marriage is oppression of women. Or, without going into the question of how much men in general repudiate the physical violence by men against women (you feminist man is not the only one), a woman who lived adolescence and youth under physical and psychological violence is not a person who is lively to an average social and professional life.
Yes, it all means that not all men are bad. It is to remember this that Men's Day exists, the international on November 19 and July 15 in Brazil. The expression of disgust of some people who have read up to this point or stopped before is also part of the reason. Plus: if nasty women and dreadful mothers can have a day for them, men can too. We can even remember some men who did good things for their families, their communities or the humanity. More readers are outraged and show why Men's Day needs to exist. But I would add another question.
The common man doesn't need only to be seen and to see himself as a nice guy capable of doing appreciable things. He also needs to see himself as a human individual. We are in a less difficult time for this. If nowadays, women, blacks, non-straight people and even animals and plants can have rights, men can too. But we still have a problem: being a heterosexual man is dangerous. This observation may seem like cheap libertinage, I'll explain why it's not. It is not just because I pass dangers even of physical aggression to offer my body to the delight of my friends. It was not in the Second Wave of Feminism, or even in the first, that America and Europe began to have women in politics, in sciences or even in war. So, what does a woman have that a man does not have, or vice versa? (Hi hi hi hi!) But in Brazil, for example, the 20th century ended with prostitution still as a crime, as well as keeping a home for libidinous encounters or "inducing an honest woman, through fraud, to practice or to allow to practice with her a libidinous act different from the carnal conjunction". Then someone can say that I defend rape. If rape can be, potentially, any sexual act, any physical contact, some eye contacts or some contacts via internet between a man and a woman (I'm not exaggerating), I don't know what to answer. If touching a woman on the bus is rape, a good morning to a woman is sexual harassment. We need a Men's Day to discuss this.
Without going into the question of gross ignorance and demential mythomania, the discourse against pornography says almost literally and runs around these three theses: 1) pornography is made to please men and because of this it must be criminalized and destroyed; 2) a woman cannot show sexual interest (for men) or have decent sex (with men) without being drugged, threatened or captive; 3) data 1 and 2, to please men and to show some women who seem heterosexual, make pornography to be violence against women. Not by chance, the exemplary women for those who don't like pornography are the rude and unattractive peasant women whose husbands, in their unhappy sex lives, begat their fathers and mothers. These peasants women never missed fitting into a standard of beauty, and never submitted to oppressive standards that a man could prevent them or that, in the end, they weren't rewarded for it.
